Photo of the Month

Every month for the last few years, we’ve invited our contributors to enter our Photo of the Month competition, which is run over on our Instagram and Twitter accounts.

While entries might be predominantly seen by fellow contributors, the lightboxes created from these monthly themes are in fact also shared with our customers, which means it could be well worth entering, if not just for the joy of it.

We love seeing your entries every month and feel it really highlights the amazing range, size and breadth of our contributor community, while simultaneously bringing our community closer together, giving you the opportunity to showcase your best pics and even introducing yourselves and your work to your fellow photographers.

We’ve chosen some of our favourite lightboxes from past Photo of the Month themes which show just how varied and far reaching your entries have been.

PotM – World Portraiture

We really enjoyed running this one in March 2023, as learning about cultures and communities across the globe is one of the best ways to gain new perspective on the world around us. We had many fantastic and diverse photographs entered which showcase portraiture from all over the world.

PotM – Cityscapes

In February 2023, We wanted to see our contributors’ perspective on the unique characteristics found across the cities you’ve explored, from street level to roof tops, and you delivered! Featuring the traditional terracotta roof tops of European cities and the modern high rises of Southeast Asia, your entries had it covered.

PotM – Reflections

For the Photo of the Month in June 2022 , we decided to highlight our contributors’ creativity, whether their images featured natural forms or man-made structures. Reflections can alter an image artistically and make subjects and objects more abstract or creative. The resulting lightbox features a beautiful mix of varied responses to the theme.

PotM – Streets

Our final favourite Photo of the Month was from May 2022, and was on the theme ‘Streets’. Perhaps underestimated as a simple and mundane subject, but we wanted to share our belief that capturing the uniqueness in our streets is important in allowing us to become a part of a visual global community. As we had hoped for, the result was a lightbox full of distinctly varying entries.

In the future we hope to regularly showcase our favourite Photo of the Month lightboxes, so watch this space! And if you haven’t before, why not get involved? All you need to do is follow us on Twitter and throughout the month just tweet @AlamyContent #AlamyPOTM along with the theme hashtag and the Alamy image ID or link.
