We can all admit from time-to-time we’re a little guilty for not finding the time to spend with friends or loved ones. With our busy schedules we may find it hard to catch up with each other, however we all know how important it is to make the effort to socialise with family or have a casual conversation with colleagues within our day.

According to a recent book featured in The Guardian meeting up with a friend or family member doesn’t have to mean making it a grand affair or require spending money. Especially with the current cost of living crisis, we shouldn’t feel the social pressures to go out for dinner or travel to the nearest city to connect with people.

In reality you don’t have to find the extra time in your day to ‘chill’ with friends, but instead include them into your daily routine or activities such as watching tv, commuting to work, going to the gym, cooking, walking together and the list goes on. You could even adopt the known break called ‘Fika’  which is a scheduled pause in the day to chat with friends and family over coffee and cake, in your routine. Again, this doesn’t have to be in a café and instead could be at home or in the office with homemade cake and coffee.

By doing this it takes the pressure off socialising and makes your daily activities more enjoyable.

We look at the importance of this topic in both our curated Human Connections image collection and our Human Connections video collection.
